HAPPY NEW YEAR to YOU!
Can you believe it? No, I know you can’t – so let’s not spend a lot of time trying to figure out where 2009 went (or 2008 or 2007 for that matter). 2009 is history – 2010 is here. And it’s a new decade to boot! (so here’s where the SuperNerds come in to argue about if the new decade started today or if we have to wait 364 more days for it to start. I’m callin’ it new since the 20-oh’s are gone and the 20-one’s have arrived).
Any way you name it, 2009 is history, 2010 is here and we’ve got plans.
The NerdHerd got a lot accomplished in ’09 – THANKS to all of you for your dedicated work. We mostly completed work on the new Media work area and added another computer with some new capabilities. We upgraded EasyWorship software and added lots of media content. We added a new workstation in the MultiPurpose Room to handle the SuperChurch program. Over in the sound area, Randy added some new things including new signal inputs – making that about 40 channels for him to manage. Some other computer work and some network changes were implemented. We came a long way on this new website and that was huge!
But for every area we touch, we think of a bunch of new ideas to update or expand or add – it’s great fun, isn’t it! Early in ’10 is new video projector(s). Then we need to add the final (yeah, right) touches on the Media workstation and begin working toward capturing more video. We’ll need to add new equipment and some additional video editing capability. How about some new lighting and a more capable light controller. All the computers need work. Building-wide video display and digital signage would be really cool. To Tweet or not to Tweet. And the list of ideas goes on and on.
We’ve got Service and Training every Sunday, Women’s Convocation in March and a bunch of other opportunities throughout the year to use our stuff to enhance His work.
So what’s my New Year’s Resolution? Well, besides cleaning off my desk, there are a number of things I will do in 2010. I want to expand the size and capabilities of the NerdHerd and do more to make HCC an even greater experience – inside the church and in the streets. They don’t call it the Information Superhighway for nothing – lots of folks out there are watching us and waiting for us to lead! We can do it if we stay willing to serve Him. Nothing is impossible with God.
Most important – I will listen. I will listen and I will hear what He has to say. Then I will turn hearing into action. I believe 2010 is going to be a great year. There’s stuff that needs done and mountains to capture. You wanna’ help? Let’s GO - let's DO - NOW! 2010 is our year.
THANK YOU, LORD!
